JAMUL, CA (Feb. 4, 2026) – In celebration of Black History Month, Jamul Casino Resort proudly highlights its continued commitment to supporting the Black community through sustained partnerships with local African American organizations and initiatives. Under the leadership of President and General Manager Mary Cheeks, the resort continues to champion diversity, inclusion and meaningful community connections year-round.

The team at Jamul Casino Resort has continually prioritized building meaningful relationships with organizations that serve and uplift the Black community, this priority extends well beyond a single month. This year-round commitment extends beyond financial contributions by working together with the local community to build toward a more equitable future. The Resort’s support of Black-led and Black-serving organizations reflects its core values while also investing directly into the community it serves.

“This Black History Month, we proudly celebrate the rich contributions of the Black community and the inspiring organizations throughout San Diego that are driving positive change.” said President and General Manager Mary Cheeks. “Our partnerships are rooted in shared values and a belief that when we support one another, our entire community thrives.”

Throughout the past year, Jamul Casino Resort has contributed over $100,000 to organizations advancing equity, education and empowerment within the Black community. This support includes a sponsorship to Women of Color Unite, which supports programs that empower women of color, and money raised through the resort’s Quarterly Charity Barrel program for IWC Community Care and PHAT Camp. Additional contributions were made to the Jackie Robinson YMCA, Harvey Family Foundation, Cooper Family Foundation, San Diego Voice & Viewpoint Newspaper, NAACP San Diego Branch and Detour Fancy.

“We are honored to stand alongside these organizations and support their incredible work,” Cheeks added. “Their impact reaches far beyond their programs, strengthening our community today and for generations to come.”

As Black History Month continues, Jamul Casino Resort encourages community members to learn about and support these impactful organizations throughout the year.
