Meet Chef Michael Castaneda
The career trajectory of Chef de Cuisine Michael Castaneda is decorated with remarkable accomplishments. Starting fourteen years ago as a dishwasher, he gained invaluable hands-on experience and steadily worked to advance his skills. Rising to Sous Chef with oversight of 64 team members, Michael’s talents were evident.
In 2019, he brought these abilities to Jamul Casino as Cook II, quickly distinguishing himself with superb work ethic and innate leadership skills. Only two years later, Michael’s merit is clear—he leads all culinary operations and teams as Chef de Cuisine of Jamul 23. For this reason, he was named 2024’s Best Chef in San Diego by San Diego Union-Tribune Readers. Michael’s success directly reflects his commitment to culinary excellence and his passion for creating memorable dining experiences.
